SUMMER PROGRAM FOR REFUGEE AND IMMIGRANT YOUTH

COLLEGE INTERNS AND HIGH SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS NEEDED for Summer Literacy Art Music and Movement Program

SLAMM VISION: Refugee youth who are academically supported and inspired to be successful in school and confidently pursuing future individual goals


SLAMM MISSION: Provide summer literacy and enrichment experiences for refugee and immigrant youth that lead to increased literacy and school success


SLAMM COLLEGE INTERN GOALS: To create community, have fun, and grow in professionalism as we lead volunteers and participants in a summer of: Leadership, Learning, and New Experiences


  • NAI seeks college interns to plan, lead and manage a summer literacy-based program under the direction of NAI staff. SLAMM offers refugee and immigrant youth opportunities to improve their literacy in a fun, inclusive environment. SLAMM takes place Monday through Friday and service hours are 9:00am to 1:00. Interns may serve 2-5 days per week. The program includes literacy activities, science, technology, soccer, art, crafts, financial literacy, dance, drama, music, Legos, and more.

SLAMM HIGH SCHOOL VOLUNTEER GOALS: To enjoy a diverse service learning opportunity, create community, have new experiences, and grow in leadership skills.


  • NAI seeks high school volunteers, ages 15-19, to help refugee and immigrant youth improve literacy skills through friendship, literacy experiences and other activities. The SLAMM program offers the opportunity to improve literacy for refugee and immigrant youth in a fun, inclusive environment weekdays from 9:00am to 1:00pm. Other activities for volunteers to help with include science, math, art, technology, dance, drama, soccer, Legos, and more. 


Additional volunteer opportunities include serving in the NAI Preschool.
