Get Involved!

VOLUNTEERING

New Arrivals Institute needs volunteers to serve at least one day a week in the following programs: 


  • In-Home, After-School Tutoring / Mentoring for K-12 (4-7pm) August - May
  • Early Childhood classes (Infants-Pre-K) 9:30-12:30
  • Adult English Language Training (Mon-Fri 9:30-12:30)
  • Kolibri Tablet Lab for students ages 6-18
  • Building or Planting Project for Growing Peace Community and Children’s Outdoor Learning 
  • Organizing a collection drive or fundraiser in collaboration with NAI Community Engagement Director
  • Summer Literacy Art Music and Movement (SLAMM) serving students ages 6-15. Click to learn more!

STUDENT INTERNSHIPS

New Arrivals Institute is continually looking for dedicated college or post graduate students wishing to positively impact newly arrived refugees and immigrants in our community. Internships are developed as a partnership between NAI, the intern, and the University and can be custom designed to meet the needs of all three partners. 


Internship opportunities include but are not limited to:


  • Case Management Assistance
  • Refugee School Impact Assistance
  • Volunteer Management Assistance 
  • Summer Literacy Art Music and Movement (SLAMM) serving students ages 6-15 
  • Kolibri Tablet Lab Assistance (Offsite)    
  • In-Home, After-School Tutoring /Mentoring for K-12 (4-7pm) August - May
  • Early Childhood class education assistance (Infants-Pre-K) 9:30-12:30
  • Adult ELT Class Assistance (Mon-Fri 9:30-12:30)
  • Teach cultural orientation or employment readiness classes
  • Design and Install a Growing Peace Community Garden Outdoor Project
  • Organize a fundraiser or donations drive

New Arrivals Institute is able to provide services through both grants and donations. Click HERE to make a monetary donation. 


Needed in kind items include: 

  • Children’s Books for NAI Preschool*
  • Supplies for NAI Preschool*
  • Single or double lightweight or umbrella style strollers in good and clean condition
  • Food for Ethnic Food Pantry*
  • Coats (no other clothing please)
  • Blankets
  • $25 grocery gift cards to purchase weekly fruit and vegetable snacks for preschool 
  • Butterfly & Thorn-less Blackberry Bushes or other plant donations for Growing Peace Community and Children’s Garden
